WHY SHOULD YOU REGISTER WITH ISBA WHEN ADGA NOW HAS HERDBOOKS FOR SABLES?

Registration with ISBA is strictly voluntary. Many members like having the ISBA certificate because it shows colors and generations and helps with planned breeding within the Sable breed. Additionally, every registration with ISBA adds to the color and predictability data within the registry. When you receive your ISBA certificate of registry, it will show how many generations toward the Purebred herdbook the animal is and animal colors on all generations of the pedigree if we have that info in the data.

WHY is it important to register Sables with ISBA if they were born before 1-1-2005?

The herdbooks for Sables were opened within ADGA on 1-1-05. Some animals will qualify as American or Purebred Sable if they were born before 1-1-05 and are registered with ISBA as American or Purebred Sable. They must be a minimum of 87.5% Saanen/Sable genetics for does and 93.75% Saanen/Sable genetics for bucks by ADGA records and meet the Sable breed standard. You will need a copy of your ISBA registration to send in to ADGA with your application for revision of registry for animals BORN BEFORE 1-1-05 and coming from the Experimental, Grade or Grade Experimental herdbooks of ADGA.

To register your animals with the ISBA and receive a lovely certificate of registration.

  • Photocopy your ADGA registration/recordation certificate.
  • On your photocopy, please put the color of each animal if known and any other pertinent info about each animal. i.e. AR, CL, GCH, +, * etc.
  • Mail the photocopy of your ADGA registration certificate and $3 per registration (payable to ISBA) to:
